30 year old Jamie Snider from California had already beaten ovarian cancer one time before she was delighted to find out she was carrying twins, after losing one of her ovaries to the disease. Unfortunately, doctors found her cancer had returned.
Although she was pregnant, Jamie, who had two older daughters, underwent intensive treatment including chemotherapy rounds, and she managed to beat the disease once again. She was scheduled to deliver her babies via C-Section on the 33rd week of her pregnancy. A hysterectomy was also planned so she could have a long life with her expanding family.
A day before her operations she posted on Facebook: “Tomorrow will be a great day”, God has been by my side the whole time. All your prayers and love have kept me going as well. Wish me luck. I’m having a C-section at 7 and then a radial hysterectomy right after. I’ll be fine. Thank you, God, for keeping me positive through all the hard times.”
The babies were born weighing only 3 pounds each, but they were born healthy. Jamie made it through the operations, but sadly died from a heart failure the next day.
Jamie’s brother, Chris, said: “They couldn’t give her too much chemo because it would affect the development of the babies” “She made sure that the babies would live. She got to lay with them, hug them and spend some time with them.”
Three GoFundMe pages were set up to help the family with the expenses of caring for the babies, the memorial service and a separate page for donations made by her friend for general help to the family.
Jamie’s memorial service is due on March 30th. The babies will move to New Hampshire to live with their family.
