Found Wallet Causes A Flashback To The 80’s

Do you remember the 1980’s?  The big hair, goofy parachute pants, and (gulp) shoulder pads?  For guys, dressing like Don Johnson in Miami Vice was the big thing while for girls it was bangs and hairspray.

Reddit’s PatrickMitchellPhoto has been displaying wondrous treasures from the 80’s.  He found an old wallet in the pocket of a jacket and was whisked back to 1985, taking us all along with him in his time traveling.

Per Patrick, “Found my wallet from 1985 in an old jacket. Snapshot of a teenage boy’s life in the 80s.”  He laughingly points out that he was going to throw the wallet away in the interest of privacy, but quickly realized he’d rather share his finds.

80’s Treasure Trove

His treasures include pictures of friends, three dollar bills, a note from a girl, a school ID, and a football ticket.  Patrick attended St. Pius High School in Albuquerque, graduating in 1988.

His pictures have sparked the interest of thousands of people who wanted explanations for his finds.  Predictably, many wanted to know who the girls were.  The girl in pink, e explains, is his sister while the other girl is just a friend. Ah, but who is Yvonne?

Patrick explains, “Yvonne is the girl I went to Homecoming. Literally just a snapshot of life in 1985.”

Patrick also proudly displayed a note from a girl that proved that the friend zone was alive and active even in the 80’s.  Patrick responded to one person’s accurate guess about the immortalized friend zone missive, and Patrick admitted, “Hit the nail on the head.”  He adds, “ Can’t find the letter. Took this photo a couple weeks ago.”

Patrick was the height of 80’s fashion…unfortunately.  He was wearing a tweed jacket with leather patches on the elbows, and his hairstyle is as fashion forward (backward?) as the girls’ seem to be.  To make it more interesting, it would seem he purchased school photos to forever remember his “hip” look, according to a purchase receipt from White’s Studios.

Many pointed out to Patrick that the dollar bills may eventually have some value to them as collector’s items, but Patrick isn’t interested in that.  He laughingly points out that the dollar bills seem to be far more interesting to his fans as artifacts, rather than a commentary on the fact that he only had $3 in his wallet.

It just goes to show, you will be amazed at the things you may find hiding in jackets, drawers and pants pockets, and guarantee that others will find their stories as fascinating as you do you will be amazed at the things you may find hiding in jackets, drawers and pants pockets, and guarantee that others will find their stories as fascinating as you do
