From the fantastic ‘Mr. X’ in Layer Cake that made him, to his role as James Bond, Daniel Craig has enjoyed a lengthy, enjoyable and hugely challenging career so far. However, it sounds like 007 might be about to take on his biggest challenge yet – fatherhood!
Rachel Weisz, who has been married to Craig for seven years, recently announced that she’ll be having her first child with the actor.
“Daniel and I are so happy. We’re going to have a little human. We can’t wait to meet him or her. It’s all such a mystery.” Weisz said when speaking to The New York Times.
The couple both have children from previous relationships. Weisz has a son, 11, and Craig has a daughter, 25. Saying that she was “very, very happy” with Craig, this sparks the next stage of a relationship that’s been a pleasant example of how celebrities can go about their business.
In an era where celebrity relationships are played out in the gossip mags, the couple has maintained a high level of professionalism throughout. Indeed, Weisz explained perfectly why this was, saying that: “I really take my hat off to them. But Daniel and I are really similar. We just literally don’t know how to do that, We’re just really crap at talking about our private lives.”
While we don’t know quite when the happy couple will introduce their little one to the world, it’s truly exciting news. Indeed, Weisz been very open in the past about the challenges that one can face in motherhood in the past.
In 2009, she said to Redbook that: “I think one of the things that moms aren’t allowed to talk about enough to one another is the times when you’re pulling your hair out at home with the kids—those moments when everything is crashing in and you feel like you’re going to scream.”
So, it sounds like both of them are pretty well prepared for what is to come in their near future. However, it might be a surprise to see this news given that, in 2012, Weisz said that she wasn’t sure she’d ever have a child. Speaking to Marie Claire she said: “I’m not planning on having more, but never say never.”
Of course, it’s so easy for things to change in life. Congratulations to both of them, and we wish the child a happy, healthy life and both of them rich, rude health.
