The 21-year-old son of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joseph Baena, appears to be following in his father’s footsteps, and in a bid to ensure that his son finds the right balance, the former Mr. Universe offers him advice on more than just bodybuilding: He also wants Joseph to focus on school.
In an interview with Extra on Thursday, January 31, the 71-year-old Terminator actor says that it is important that the youngest of his children get a business degree from Pepperdine. He says his son should take good care of his body, training hard if he’s passionate about it, but he should make sure he studies hard as well.
Baena not only recreated an iconic pose from his father in an Instagram post on January 14, but he and his father shared pictures of them working out together, along with a couple other bodybuilders later that week. He captioned the picture “Getting a great pump with some of the strongest men in the world.”
Beating A Personal Record
Schwarzenegger and his son have been training hard because Joseph wants to do the classic physique competitions, according to his father. Arnold has even helped Baena beat his personal record.
The action star tells us about when he put 455 in for his som to deadlift, a weight he has never lifted before, but successfully did 2 reps of that day. Arnold said that after he saw him do the first rep without too much difficulty, he began to push him to do another rep, cheering him on.
The Golden Globe winner had Joseph with his former maid, Mildred Baena in 1997, while still married Maria Shriver, his now-estranged wife. Although the author of I’ve Been Thinking … Reflections, Prayers and Meditations filed for divorce in 2011, the two are still legally married.
The ex-couple had 4 kids together after they got married in 1986: Katherine, Christina, Patricm, and Christopher, who are 29, 27, 25, and 21 respectively.
