For her dark and demented role in Black Swan, the beautiful Natalie Portman had to push herself to the ultimate physical limit. On top of having to lose 20 pounds for the role by eating nothing more than carrots and almonds, Portman spent a grueling 8 hours a day in dance rehearsals.
After filming, Portman admitted that the filming left her physically and emotionally drained claiming: “It was the first time I understood how you could get so wrapped up in a role that it could sort of take you down.
“She also dislocated a rib during rehearsals and pushed on, stating that dancers are always dancing with injuries, so why shouldn’t she?
Clearly, with commitment like that, her Academy Award for best actress was well-deserved.
